Congratulations, Super Twins!

Updated: Sep 7, 2020

When they were still in Grades 1 and 2, they only belonged between top 4 and 9 every grading. They could never make it to top 1.

When they were in Grade 3, Marie got the highest ranking in the class. But Kathrine took the throne from Marie and became top 1 in class when they were in Grade 4.

Over the years before graduating from primary school, they were vying for the highest spot in class. But as what happens with every competition, there will always be one winner. Kathrine became the Valedictorian and Marie the Salutatorian.

When they graduated from high school, Kathrine got the top spot in class and Marie got the fourth spot not because she didn’t do well academically but she was not into extra-curricular activities which were also very crucial to acquire a very high grade.

Then college came. Kathrine graduated Magna Cum Laude and Marie graduated Cum Laude with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the Mindanao State University – General Santos City Campus.

A few months after, they passed the CPA board exam. Although they didn’t belong to the top 10, we couldn’t be prouder of what they achieved.

Six years ago, they told me that they wanted to go to law school. I immediately said yes since they’re still young and considering their beautiful minds, I thought that they could handle working and studying at the same time.

I wasn’t wrong. They finished law school as class Valedictorian and Salutatorian respectively and were the only Cum Laude in their class.

And now, the final moment has come. As much as we fear the results, we still have faith that it’s going to be a moment that they have been waiting for.

I once asked them what made them realize to work hard to be at the top. They told me that our mom used to threaten them that they would be transferred to another school if they would not be the top 1 and the top 2 in class. Typical of my mom. :) But aside from that, they felt joy every time they saw my parents’ faces beaming with pride whenever they went up the stage to get their award. So, they continued to strive to be the best.

We all know that there has never been a competition between the two of them. The success of one has always been the success of the other.

Congratulations, super twins! You finally did it! With all that has been happening in the world right now, there’s one very good thing that came out of it. It doesn’t matter that you didn’t make it to the top 10. Passing an exam which is considered the most complex one in the country is already a blessing that you deserve. I wish Papa and Mama were still alive. They could have never been prouder of the two of you.
